Baking Adventure Bread

Here in the United States we are entering feasting season: giant Thanksgiving meals complete with turkey, bread stuffing, cranberries, mashed potatoes, and pies. Growing up in my Asian family, our Thanksgiving table also included fish, rice, and some other delicious family feast items!

I'm a big fan of bread and love to make it and eat it. I'll make bagels, orange knot rolls, pizza crusts, wheat loaves, and more. One of my favorite breads that a friend introduced me to, though, is incredibly healthy. It's not my recipe so I will just link to it here:

I love that the main ingredient is oatmeal! Make sure to follow the asterisk hint. I didn't pay attention to it and had a difficult time finding psyllium seed husks. In fact, the disappointing young employee at Sprouts told me they didn't carry it, shrugged, and left! A customer in line in front of me heard me though, and pointed it out to me in the nutrition aisle. Thank goodness for the kindness of strangers.

TIP: There are a lot of unique ingredients in this bread so slice for slice, it's a little more pricey. I gave some to a friend and was horrified to learn that she didn't like the texture so she tossed it. PLEASE - slice thin and toast this bread. It is a delicious nutty flavor but it has an oatmeal base and will certainly taste a little mushy if you don't take the time to toast it first!
